Interactive Cities’ Young Older Spirit animation

How can social media improve our urban governance? How to explain to your local stakeholders what you are doing within the Interactive Cities network? Tell them your story! Community Capital in Action: New Financial Models for Resilient Cities – in the IABR Magazine


In the past decade, with the economic crisis and the transformation of welfare societies, NGOs, community organisations and civic developers – City Makers – established some of the most important services and spaces in formerly vacant buildings, underused areas and neglected neighborhoods. Consolidating their presence in the regenerated spaces, these initiatives are increasingly looking into the power of the local community, the dispersed crowd and new financial actors to invest in their activities.

JUNE 22. Funding the Cooperative City – Warsaw


The event is part of the Funding the Cooperative City in Central Europe series that explores, promotes and assists experiments in organising and establishing new community spaces and services in Central European cities. By focusing on the region with emerging entrepreneurial skills and a maturing civil society, the project aims at positioning Central European initiatives in the wider European context and at acting as a platform for knowledge exchange. The Warsaw event brings together „city makers” and protagonists of the new social economy from various cities in order to help shaping a new Central European culture of urban development based on community-driven initiatives, civic economic models and cooperative ownership.
